Mongolia opened an Honorary Consulate in New Zealand on 23 March 2007. The opening coincided with the official visit to New Zealand of Mr Ts. Nyamdorj, Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament and a delegation of five Members of Parliament.

The Mongolian Honorary Consul is Mr Peter Allport, a well known New Zealand businessman who has strong and active business connections with Mongolia.
