Consular Services for Mongolian Citizens
The Consulate provides a number of services to Mongolian citizens resident in Australia. Certain fees apply which are listed below.
Issue Of Mongolian Passports
New Mongolian passports are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Ulaanbaatar or at Mongolian Embassies worldwide. The Consulate-General can provide Mongolian citizens with the application form for a new passport and can forward applications to the MFA and receive the new passport from the Ministry. Turnaround time is usually four (4) to six (6) weeks.
Extension Of Mongolian Passports
The Consulate is authorised to extend the validity of Mongolian passports issued after April 2003 for a period of six (6) months. There is a limited of two extensions (12 months) on any one passport. Old system passports issued prior to April 2003 cannot be extended.
Translation Of Mongolian Driving Licences
The Consulate-General will provide verified translations of Mongolian passports for Mongolian citizens resident in Australia, who wish to apply for an Australian driving licence.
Authentication Of Mongolian Documents
The Consulate-General can provide a letter of authentication of Mongolian documents. It can also provide verification of the translation of Mongolian documents. Original or certified copies of the documents and the notarised translations must be provided.
Translation Of Qualifications
The Consulate-General can assist in the translation of verification of the Mongolian qualifications of citizens resident in Australia.
Travel Document Issue
Mongolian citizens in Australia whose passport has expired, has been lost or stolen, or are infants without a passport, can apply for a Travel Document (TD) to return to Mongolia. Travel Documents can only be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ulaanbaatar or by a Mongolian Embassy. The Consulate-General can assist in collecting the appropriate documents and in forwarding these to the Ministry of Embassy in Beijing for the issue of the TD. Documentation required is:
(i) A covering letter of application which includes:
- First name
- Surname (father’s or mother’s first name)
- National Registration number
- Reasons why the applicant should receive a re-entry ID card
- Present and permanent address/phone number in Mongolia,
(ii) Police reference confirming lost or ruined passport (s)
(iii) Civil Identification Card of Mongolia or duplicate copy
(iv) Two 4x6 size photos (a current photo without cosmetic touch-ups or glasses, must be centred, printed on photo paper and pasted on re-entry ID card)
(vi) For a child, original birth certificate or duplicate, two centred 4 x 6 size photos (a current photo without cosmetic touch-ups or glasses, must be centred, printed on photo paper and pasted on re-entry ID card)
(vii) Re-entry card fee is US$20, or the equivalent thereof in the local, foreign currency. |
